We invite both groups and individuals to participate in volunteer opportunities for Quality Control (QC) at the Tarrant Area Food Bank's distribution center. This center plays a crucial role in sorting, inspecting, and repacking donated food products, which are then distributed to partner organizations across a 13-county area. The impact of Quality Control volunteers is significant, as they contribute to ensuring that our neighbors in need receive safe and high-quality food.

Volunteer responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Unless alternative arrangements are made, volunteers should be capable of standing for extended periods and lifting weights ranging from 30 to 40 pounds.

Minimum Age and Chaperone Guidelines:

Individuals as young as 12 years old and 55 inches tall are eligible to volunteer in QC. For children aged 12-13, one adult chaperone is required for every 1 to 3 children volunteering. Youth aged 14-15 require one adult chaperone for every 1 to 10 volunteers. Tarrant Area Food Bank prioritizes the safety of all volunteers, and therefore, there are no exceptions to these chaperone guidelines.

Join us for Double Your Shift Day, where volunteers commit to serving both the morning and afternoon shifts in one day, creating a powerful impact in a short amount of time.

This time of year, is typically a slower period for volunteer engagement, which makes days like this especially vital to our mission. By doubling your shift, you help ensure we can continue moving food, completing critical projects, and supporting our neighbors without interruption — even during quieter volunteer months.

Serving both shifts allows us to reach significantly more families, prepare thousands of additional meals, and keep operations running strong when support is most needed.

As a thank-you, volunteers participating in Double Your Shift Day will enjoy a provided lunch during the break between shifts, plus door prizes to show our appreciation.
