The Tarrant Area Food Bank delivers a variety of nutritious food to us for our outside distribution to our local families.  Volunteers set up tables and supplies, greet families, unpack food from pallets, bag produce, box food items for each family, carry groceries to families’ cars and/or help with clean-up when the distribution is finished.  All ages and abilities are welcome!

Dress: Dress comfortably, and in weather-appropriate attire. Layers are encouraged. Tennis shoes and hiking boots are recommended. Closed-toe shoes are required. Crocs, slip-ons, and house shoes are not acceptable. Parking: The Volunteer Entrance sign indicates the point of entry for volunteers. Park in the volunteer parking area. Check-In/Check-Out: Walk towards the playground, follow the Feather Flags & signage indicating  “Volunteer Check In”, proceed inside the building to Check-In. Check-In at the computer KIOSK, grab a vest. Restrooms are available inside the building. Safety Vests: All volunteers are required to have a safety vest on during their volunteering. Vests are provided by CRC at Check-In. You may bring your own bright colored vest.  Pre-registration: Volunteers should be pre-registered. Pre-registration verify spots are available for the shift you desire to attend. Food Entrance gate closes at 10 am. When the gate is closed and all vehicles have exited the lot, the shift is over. End of Shift: At the end of your shift velcro or zip the vests before returning them to the “used-vests” bucket. Weather: The Saturday Mobile Market is open rain or shine. Dress for the weather. The parking lot feels 10 degrees cooler and hotter. The Saturday Mobile Market will not close due to rain - expect delays due to lightning, ice, or Snow. Social Media-Follow the Cindy Ramsey Center on Instagram, Facebook, and check our website for updates. Communication: CRC staff will communicate via the website, social media, and email. CRC follows KISD school closures during the school year. Water / Beverages: Bring a water bottle to rehydrate. CRC provides water bottles on site. Recycle: Recycle by placing bottles in the crate next to the trash can. Beverages provided: Gatorade in hot weather, and free coffee in the morning. You must have a sign-in and check-in under your First and Last name for hours to be approved. Tasks may include lifting up to 30 pounds and standing for extended periods in a non-temperature-controlled environment. While a four-hour shift is encouraged, it is not mandatory.

This opportunity would be great for volunteers who are interested in social interaction and light physical activity. This would also be the perfect opportunity for Corporate groups, Youth groups, and Service Leagues who are interested in serving their communities and building comradery amongst teams. Volunteers can expect to greet volunteers, carry groceries for clients, sort and stock groceries for clients choosing, push and load carts for clients and carry groceries to client’s cars.

Volunteers roles may include but are not limited to:

Greeter and line monitor Registration Assistant Parking Lot Attendant Shopper Assistant Set up/Clean up Carrying Groceries to Vehicles ***Individuals as young as 8 years old are invited to volunteer; however, ages 8-14 years old MUST have an adult chaperone.*** Volunteers must be able to lift 10 pounds, stand for periods at a time and work in a location that is not temperature controlled.

The Tarrant Area Food Bank has partnered with Richmond Avenue Church of Christ Mobile Pantry to provide food to community members in need. The Church of Christ distributes food every 4th Saturday, and volunteer support is essential to continue serving our neighbors.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to support the community by taking on different roles, including but not limited to:

Bagging Food: Volunteers will be responsible for kitting and creating grocery bags that will be given out to community members.

Runner: Volunteers will be required to move the bagged food to the loading area.

Loading: Volunteers will be responsible for inserting the bagged groceries into vehicles.

Individuals as young as 16 years old are welcome to volunteer. However, volunteers must be able to lift 15 pounds, stand for periods at a time, and work in a location that is not temperature controlled.
