Food pantries provide both perishable and non-perishable food items to families and individuals each month. The food provided by Tarrant Area Food Bank and donated by local grocery stores, as well as through local food drives.

Volunteers roles may include but are not limited to:

Greeter Registration Assistant Restocking Shelves Sacking Groceries Carrying Groceries to Vehicles

Individuals as young as 8 years old are invited to volunteer; however, ages 8-14 years old MUST have an adult chaperone. Volunteers must be able to lift 10 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.

We will help you get signed in and trained the first day you come.

All food pantry volunteers are required to take a brief Civil Rights Training course.

Food Pantry – Tuesday and Friday opportunities to volunteer at the food pantry are available. Volunteer opportunities include:

Organizing and distributing cold food items Re-stocking Distribution of items in Met Youth area Clean up Check-In counter (Spanish Speaker) Break-down boxes Grocery Cart runner

Volunteers between the age 11-15 need an adult. Age 16 and up can help without an adult.

Dress comfortably with closed toed shoes.

As a Volunteer, you will play a vital role in providing assistance and support to the food assistance program. This position includes Grocery Bagger, Grocery Runner, and Grocery Checkout. By volunteering in these roles, you will directly contribute to ensuring a smooth and efficient operation, allowing us to provide essential groceries to individuals and families in need. Volunteer Roles- Food Bagging: Bag groceries Handle perishable and non-perishable items.

 Taking Groceries to Clients' Cars:

Assist clients in transporting their groceries from the store to their vehicles. Use carts or other suitable means to safely transport grocery bags. Provide friendly and courteous support to clients during the process.

Using Carts to Transport Items:

Utilize carts to efficiently move groceries from storage areas to clients' cars. Load and unload grocery bags onto carts, ensuring proper organization and distribution.

Helping Clients Choose Groceries:

Engage with clients in a friendly and respectful manner. Assist clients in selecting groceries based on their preferences and dietary needs.

Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring that all guests feel welcome and comfortable, providing directions, and answering questions as needed. You will also assist with serving dinner to guests, including preparing and setting up food, serving meals, and cleaning up after the event. This will involve working with a team of volunteers to ensure that all guests are served efficiently and with care. In addition to dinner service, you will help with after-dinner activities, such as games, crafts, or other fun activities that promote fellowship and community building among guests. This may also include cleanup and tidying up after the event.

 

Overall, this role requires a friendly and outgoing demeanor, as well as an ability to work with a diverse group of people.
