In this event you will be assisting with our Client Choice Pantry Food Pantry distribution. Volunteer roles include prepping for our food distribution, shopping our market with clients and bringing the groceries to their vehicles. This is a very interactive volunteer opportunity, and very face to face. If you are friendly and like to see your impact on the community, this is the volunteering event for you!

Join us in the TAFB Community Kitchen, where volunteers help prepare medically tailored meals from scratch for neighbors facing health challenges. You’ll be guided by our two incredible chefs, who bring expertise, passion, and fun to the kitchen. No experience is required—just a willingness to help and a heart to serve!

The Tarrant Area Food Bank Community Garden Program is an initiative in which communities at risk of hunger and malnutrition are guided and inspired to grow their own produce. This program offers creative and simple solutions to improve access to nutritious food in our service area.

Volunteers are invited to help at workdays in our TAFB West Market Garden, 112 Winners Circle, Weatherford, TX 76087. No prior experience is required, however volunteers should feel comfortable lifting, bending, stooping and working in outside weather conditions.

Please dress for the weather in layers of clothing that can get dirty. Wear close-toed shoes or boots. Hats, sunglasses, sunscreen and bug spray are also recommended. Please wear or bring a coat and hat for cold workdays if you are able.

Individuals as young as 13 years old may volunteer in the Learning Garden; however, ages 13-15 years old MUST have at least one adult volunteering with every 5 youth.

If your schedule changes and you are not able to attend this event, please un-register so someone else can sign up. We need all of our spaces filled by those who are able to attend.

TAFB will have garden gloves available for volunteers to use, if needed.

SAFETY PROCEDURES

Per CDC guidance, masks are no longer required in the garden, which is considered a non-crowded outdoor space. We encourage volunteers to continue self-screening for wellness, washing hands, and practicing good health hygiene at all times. 

We invite both groups and individuals to participate in volunteer opportunities for Quality Control (QC) at the Tarrant Area Food Bank's distribution center. This center plays a crucial role in sorting, inspecting, and repacking donated food products, which are then distributed to partner organizations across a 13-county area. The impact of Quality Control volunteers is significant, as they contribute to ensuring that our neighbors in need receive safe and high-quality food.

If you are wanting to volunteer with a group over 20, please fill out our group volunteer interest form. Your submission to the form does not confirm your spot until you have connected with a member of our team through the form.

Volunteer responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Unless alternative arrangements are made, volunteers should be capable of standing for extended periods and lifting weights ranging from 30 to 40 pounds.

Minimum Age and Chaperone Guidelines:

Individuals as young as 12 years old and 55 inches tall are eligible to volunteer in QC. For children aged 12-13, one adult chaperone is required for every 1 to 3 children volunteering. Youth aged 14-15 require one adult chaperone for every 1 to 10 volunteers. Tarrant Area Food Bank prioritizes the safety of all volunteers, and therefore, there are no exceptions to these chaperone guidelines.

We are open to help and assist people in the community.

Volunteers will help with Stocking, enrolling, registration, cleaning,  handing out food.

First Time Volunteers: Thank you for signing up as a First Time Volunteer! When you arrive, enter at Volunteer Entrance, and park in the volunteer parking. Walk towards the playground to check-in and grab a vest. We plan to have a tour of the CRC Market at 7:20am, weather permitting. We do encourage you to wear a raincoat and appropriate shoes for rain. Once you arrive, let the Volunteer Check-In team know it’s your first time. Once you arrive, we’ll assign you to your specific role. We’re looking forward to seeing you! Every Sarturday from 7:30 to 12:00 (ish), we harvest at Shiloh.  There are always other tasks as well:  weeding, planting, bed prep, etc.

*You will have one hour of volunteer service logged for completing all trainings. When your trainings are complete and logged, and we have received your certificate, you will be ready to volunteer. If you have not completed your trainings 1 week prior to your scheduled market, you will be contacted by staff as a reminder to complete trainings or cancel your volunteer registration.

By volunteering in this role, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families in need. You will gain valuable administrative, customer service, and teamwork experience while fostering a sense of community and connect. 

Must be 18 to Volunteer. 

As a volunteer in this role, you will have the opportunity to assist with various tasks related to clothing and food distribution. Your primary responsibilities will include receiving clothing donations and sorting through them to ensure that they are in good condition and appropriate for distribution. You will also help with the organization and maintenance of the Clothing Closet, where donated clothing is stored for distribution to those in need.

In addition to clothing distribution, you will also help with the Choice Pantry, which provides food to individuals and families in need. This may include sorting through food donations, stocking shelves, and helping neighbors select items from the pantry.

You will also assist with hospitality tasks such as breakfast distribution, sack lunch preparation and distribution, and providing a Listening Post for neighbors who need someone to talk to.

Overall, this role requires a friendly and compassionate demeanor, as well as an ability to work with a diverse group of people. Previous experience in a similar role is not necessary, but it is helpful. If you are interested in helping to provide clothing and food to those in need, we encourage you to apply for this volunteer position!

The LVTRISE project distributes TAFB-supplied food to residents of the Las Vegas Trails area via the local YMCA. Volunteers aged 18 and above are needed for various roles such as greeters, shopper assistants, and setup/cleanup. Tasks may include lifting up to 30 pounds and standing for extended periods in a non-temperature-controlled environment. While a four-hour shift is encouraged, it is not mandatory.

The Mission of the Ridglea Giving Garden is to cultivate a community gardening space to produce healthy food for our neighbors in need, regenerate Earth’s resources, and provide gardening education.

We recognize that hunger knows no boundaries, and we aim to serve both those with a residence and those experiencing homelessness in our community. Our mission is to ensure that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, has access to nutritious food and support.

Must be 14 to Volunteer.

As a volunteer in this role, you will have the opportunity to welcome and greet guests as they arrive for First HAND Ministries faith-based evening event. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring that all guests feel welcome and comfortable, providing directions, and answering questions as needed. You will also assist with serving dinner to guests, including preparing and setting up food, serving meals, and cleaning up after the event. This will involve working with a team of volunteers to ensure that all guests are served efficiently and with care. In addition to dinner service, you will help with after-dinner activities, such as games, crafts, or other fun activities that promote fellowship and community building among guests. This may also include cleanup and tidying up after the event.

Overall, this role requires a friendly and outgoing demeanor, as well as an ability to work with a diverse group of people. If you are interested in helping to create a welcoming and enjoyable experience for guests at First HAND Ministries faith-based evening event, we encourage you to register for this volunteer position!!

Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity where you can make a difference in your community? Join us in our Home Deliveries program! Every week, we send out an incredible 5,800 to 7,200 pounds of food directly to our neighbors' doors — and you can be part of the action.

Why Volunteer with Home Deliveries? Our 20-lb food boxes are assembled by dedicated volunteers and distributed from our docks to Amazon drivers. But we can’t do it without YOU! By volunteering, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring food security for families in need. All activities take place at our 2600 location (in front of our volunteer center), and we have roles to fit every interest and ability.

Volunteer Roles Available:

Traffic Director: Keep the process running smoothly by guiding drivers as they pick up food boxes.

Pickup List Verifier: Double-check each driver's pickup list to ensure every order is accurate.

Loader: Assist drivers with loading boxes into their vehicles, ensuring they get the correct number of boxes. This role also offers the chance to build connections with our drivers, who are the key to this program’s success.

When Can You Volunteer? We offer two distribution days each week, so you can choose the time that works best for you

Monday Distribution

Program Walkthrough/Setup: 12:50PM — Prepare pallets, set up signs, and review role assignments.

Amazon Flex Driver Pickup: 1:00PM — Help with driver pickups. All packages should be picked up by 2:00PM. Volunteers are released once pickups are complete.

You will be asked to provide documentation to verify your offense and the number of hours of community service required. This information may come from the court, your lawyer or a probation officer.

Once you complete the orientation you will have access to self-register for volunteer spots in the Quality Control - Court Ordered/Lawyer Referred time slots.

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the orientation start time.  The doors will close 5 minutes after the start time and late arrivals will be asked to attend the next scheduled orientation.

Volunteers of all ages, including families with children as young as 8 with chaperons, are welcome to join us in this important endeavor. Your time and effort will make a significant difference in the lives of community members.

The Tarrant Area Food Bank delivers a variety of nutritious food to us for our outside distribution to our local families.  Volunteers set up tables and supplies, greet families, unpack food from pallets, bag produce, box food items for each family, carry groceries to families’ cars and/or help with clean-up when the distribution is finished.  All ages and abilities are welcome!

Volunteers will have the opportunity to support the community by taking on different roles, including but not limited to:

Bagging Food: Volunteers will be responsible for kitting and creating grocery bags that will be given out to community members.

Runner: Volunteers will be required to move the bagged food to the loading area.

Loading: Volunteers will be responsible for inserting the bagged groceries into vehicles.

Individuals as young as 16 years old are welcome to volunteer. However, volunteers must be able to lift 15 pounds, stand for periods at a time, and work in a location that is not temperature controlled.

The Tarrant Area Food Bank Community Garden Program is an initiative in which communities at risk of hunger and malnutrition are guided and inspired to grow their own produce. This program offers creative and simple solutions to improve access to nutritious food in our service area.

Volunteers are invited to help at workdays in our TAFB West Market Garden, 112 Winners Circle, Weatherford, TX 76087. No prior experience is required, however volunteers should feel comfortable lifting, bending, stooping and working in outside weather conditions.

Please dress for the weather in layers of clothing that can get dirty. Wear close-toed shoes or boots. Hats, sunglasses, sunscreen and bug spray are also recommended. Please wear or bring a coat and hat for cold workdays if you are able.

Individuals as young as 13 years old may volunteer in the Learning Garden; however, ages 13-15 years old MUST have at least one adult volunteering with every 5 youth.

This center plays a crucial role in sorting, inspecting, and repacking donated food products, which are then distributed to partner organizations across a 13-county area. Through the Senior Share program, TAFB provides seniors at risk of hunger with nutritious food that they can prepare and eat at home. Seniors also learn about various topics that are relevant to their prolonged health and well-being.

Help us fight hunger and ensure that every family who visits our pantry has the food they need. Each month, as demand continues to grow in our community, we gather volunteers on the second Saturday to restock shelves, prepare grocery bags, and get our pantry ready to serve families in the week ahead.

This is a family-friendly opportunity - kids (minimum age 10), teens, and adults can all serve together. To make the morning even better, coffee and donuts will be provided for all volunteers! 

No experience necessary - just bring your energy, compassion, and willingness to help. Training is provided, and every moment you give helps us meet the growing need in our community.

Our CSFP is a program geared toward our seniors in need. We have prepacked boxes for distribution and the Mission Market will be available at that time as well.

We will need volunteers to hand out the boxes and assist our seniors in the Mission Market.
